HINDU JANAJAGRUTI SAMITI DEMANDS ENACTION OF A LAW AGAINST ‘LOVE JIHAD’ IN GOA TOO

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has demanded for an Anti-Conversion law and its strict implementation to curb incidents of ‘Love Jihad’ in Goa, through a memorandum presented to the CM.

Recently, an incident of Love Jihad came to light at Collem, Dharbandora. A Hindu girl from Collem, Dharbandora has filed a complaint with the police of being a victim of ‘Love Jihad’. Several incidents of Love Jihad have taken place in Goa in the past. The issue of ‘Love Jihad’ has come to the forefront throughout the Nation after the murder of Nikita Tomar from Faridabad, Haryana, a few days ago. Recently, the Uttar Pradesh Government has enacted a legislation against Love Jihad, following which, the states of Haryana, Assam, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh also have announced the passing of a legislation against Love Jihad. Apart from Hindu organisations, many Sikh and Christian organisations have taken a stand against Love Jihad. A suspect named Nawaz Saab Desai from Collem, Dharbandora, victimised a Hindu girl studying in Std. X and sexually harassed her for 5 long years luring her of marriage. This is a grave incident which calls for a stringent solution to curb the conspiracy of Love Jihad in Goa. In this regard, the HJS has made the following demands –

  1. Passing of an Anti-Conversion Bill to curb Love Jihad in Goa.
  2. Legal action be taken against advertisements, movies, stage plays, books, articles, speeches promoting and propagating Love jihad in the garb of social unity
  3. A special branch of police be set up at the State and Centre to handle and investigate into the cases of Love Jihad.
  4. All inter-faith marriages to be registered with the Court only.
  5. All madarasas and mosques found to promote such types of conversion be banned with immediate effect.
