To encourage sports tourism, the Goa tourist agency has teamed up with the Ironman 70.3 India competition organisers. The agreement’s goal, according to Goa’s director of tourism, Suneel Anchipaka, is to position Goa as the top location for sports tourism.
70.3 Ironman The 113-kilometer international triathlon competition is conducted in India, Goa. Since its inception in 2019, the event has taken place in Goa, and throughout its three previous iterations, the coastal state has welcomed triathletes from all around India as well as fifty other countries. This year’s event is principally sponsored by the Goa tourist department.
Goa’s chief minister, Pramod Sawant, had declared last year that the state need to concentrate on sports tourism. In addition to holding the Ironman 70.3 India races, the state has been the site of the WTT Star Contender games in India, organised by the International Table Tennis Federation, from 2023. The 2024 season completed in January. Goa also hosted the 2023 National Games of India competition.
Goa’s tourism minister, Rohan Khaunte, stated earlier this year that the goal of include sports in the state’s narrative is to further Goa’s growth.
