‘Curlie Restaurant’, located on Goa’s famous Anjuna Beach, is once again in the limelight. It came into limelight due to the death of a British girl about 14 years ago. Now this restaurant has once again become the center of discussion regarding the death of BJP leader Sonali Phogat. It is being told that Sonali had gone to this restaurant before coming back to her hotel. After returning from the restaurant to the hotel, her health suddenly deteriorated.

Sonali Phogat (42) had gone to ‘Curley’s’ restaurant on Monday night and was brought dead from her hotel at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Anjuna in North Goa district on the morning of August 23. Earlier, Sonali’s death was being suspected due to a heart attack, but now a conspiracy to murder is being investigated in this case. Police have arrested two associates of Sonali.

In 2008, the restaurant came into limelight during the investigation into the death of British teenager Scarlett Eden Keeling. Keeling’s mother then claimed that her daughter said she had gone to ‘Curlies’ just before arriving at the place where she was sexually assaulted and left to die on the beach.

Advocate Vikram Verma, representing Scarlett’s mother Fiona McKeown, told PTI on Thursday: “Evidence on record appears to suggest that Scarlett Keeling was taken to Curley’s hut before she arrived at Louie’s hut. Finally died.” He added that the evidence also suggests that “Louis may have been intoxicated with dangerous drugs before he even arrived at the hut.” Now after the death of Sonali Phogat, the restaurant is once again in discussion.
