Congress workers from Cuncolim have requested the Congress not to import Cuncolim candidate from outside the constituency. Without naming Congress worker Paresh Dessai has pointed out to the plan of Congress pitching Yuri Alemao as their candidate for Cuncolim and criticised the move in a letter to his President
In a letter to the President of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, Paresh Dessai, former Youth Congress President and General Secretary of Cuncolim Congress Block Committee said that now the time has come for the party to keep away from self centred defectors some of whom are habitual. They have been taking the party for granted after using it to get elected. People of Cuncolim Constituency are not in a mood to tolerate defectors any longer. Please consider the fact that historically, ‘betrayers’ have not been shown mercy by our people.
Paresh requested that as a first measure, to improve the party’s prospects of making a come back, I request that the party should not import any candidate from outside Cuncolim Constituency. He says that it is because of the fact that people are strongly of the opinion that we have enough competent candidates from Cuncolim who will be keen to represent the people of the constituency in the assembly.
The appointment of Joaquim Alemao henchmen as the Congress Block Committee of Cuncolim has created tremors for many aspirants.
