The Election Commission was asked by the Supreme Court to receive information from SBI on the electoral bonds that political parties redeemed.

According to reports, the State Bank of India, or SBI, is “ready” with the electoral bond data that the Supreme Court of India requested be revealed to the Election Commission of India by Tuesday, March 12 at the latest, by the end of work hours on Monday.
The nation’s largest public sector lender was forewarned by the Supreme Court that it might face legal action for “wilful disobedience” if it did not follow its directives and timeliness. The court also chastised the SBI and ordered it to reveal the details of the electoral bonds encashed by political parties to the Election Commission.

While denying the State Bank of India’s request for an extension of time till June 30 to divulge the records, a five-judge constitution bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud also ordered the EC to post the information given by the bank on its official website by 5 p.m. on March 15.

In an NDTV Profit story, the lender stated that it had the election bond data available and that data mapping was necessary to prevent inconsistencies. According to the bank, customers are no longer able to claim anonymity because the Supreme Court mandated the disclosure.
