French government’s decision to bestow France’s highest civilian honour, the Legion of Honour, on Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram mp Dr Shashi Tharoor for his writings and speeches was hailed by the All India Professionals’ Congress Goa unit as an acknowledgment of his growing influence and stature in the political space not just in India but the world at large. AIPC Goa unit President Elvis Gomes who had recently led the Goa delegation to the AIPC National Convention in Raipur attended among others by Chattisgarh CM Bhupesh Bagel and former governor of the Reserve Bank Raghuram Rajan said that Dr Tharoor displays a high degree of statesmanship which the world was noticing.

He said that Tharoor’s stint in the United Nations was coming handy to espouse the cause of greater democracy in an environment of threats to democracy, for peace in the world and protection of human rights. “It is with joy we receive the news that AIPC National President Dr Tharoor with whom we enjoy a personal rapport has been bestowed France’s highest civilian award ‘Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur’ . We plan to invite him to Goa for a felicitation very soon. Many people in Goa particularly the youth have told me that they follow Dr. Tharoor” said Gomes.
Meanwhile AIPC Vice President Sidharth Karapurkar and General Secretary Sita Antao have appealed to people to join AIPC in large numbers to share ideas to facilitate making of better policies for governance.
