Farmer Shyam Gaonkar from Satrem village in Sattari taluka has successfully grown strawberries in his farm. This is the first successful attempt of strawberry cultivation in North Goa.
Shyam informed that the Valpoi Zonal Agricultural Office had taken a group of 25 farmers from Sattari for a workshop at Mahabaleshwar where they have been taught, how to grow strawberries and other agricultural crops in Goan soil favourable to climate.
After the end of the workshop at Mhableshwar, while coming home, he bought the samples of strawberries to the tune of more then thousands.
