Various allegations and counter-allegations are being made about the culprits and the reason for the tragic incident on the Morbi cable bridge that took place in Gujarat on Sunday night. Opposition parties have reacted strongly to the negligence of the government. On the incident, BJP’s Goa unit spokesperson Savio Rodrigues has put his own government in the state in the dock. It is said that this is due to the root of corruption.
He wrote on Twitter, “The tragic incident of Morbi Bridge is horrifying. There are many mistakes in this. If we don’t take responsibility it means we are not taking care of our people. The root of corruption becomes the reason for such an unfortunate tragic accident. 49 children lost their lives. 134 people are reported to have died.”
PM Narendra Modi also reached Morbi on Tuesday to inspect this terrible accident and meet the victims. Before PM Modi’s visit, Gujarat government officials reached the office of the bridge-making company on Tuesday morning and are inquiring into the matter. A case has been registered against the accused company under sections 304, 308, and 114 of IPC. The officers have also arrested many people. Rescue work is still going on in the river.
