The government said that on March 29, 30, and 31; income tax offices would be open. March 30 is a Saturday, March 29 is a closed holiday, and March 31 occurs on a Sunday. The deadline is March 31 for tax filers who choose the former tax system and wish to make an investment in a tax-saving tool for FY 2023–2024. To lower their tax obligation, they can pick among PPF, ELSS, term deposits, health insurance premiums, house loans, and school loans. For these taxpayers, the previous tax law provided deductions under Sections 80D, 80G, and 80CCD(1B).

If you don’t meet these requirements in a given fiscal year, your account may be flagged as defaulted and you may be subject to a penalty. To avoid punishment, you have till March 31 to complete this.
