Sale of alcohol is prohibited after 10 p.m. in Goa’s 186 Panchayats due to elections on 10th August

As the election date for 186 Panchayats in Goa is declared as 10th August, 2022, the sale of alcohol is strictly prohibited after 10 p.m. in the respective jurisdiction. The license of an establishment will be cancelled if found serving liquor after 10 p.m. and the owner will be liable for penal action and other relevant laws in force.

The order by district collector mentioned that the outlets serving liquor will remain open after 10 p.m. but will not be allowed to sell. Out of total 191 panchayats, this order is applicable to 186 panchayats where election will be held, remaining 5 – Taleigao village, Harvalem panchayat, Alorna, Chandel-Hassapur, and Casarvarnem are exempted from the order as no elections are there.

In addition to this, municipal areas in North Goa and South Goa districts and the jurisdiction of the Corporation of the City of Panaji are excluded from this order. People can report to district election officer if they observe violations of this order. On August 12, the panchayat election results will be declared.
