The state government of Goa needed to revise their plan to reduce the budget for day-care centers for senior citizens when opposition criticized over the same. Social welfare minister Subhash Phaldessai answered that government will check the functioning of these centres and will soon start recreational facilities including yoga classes.

Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai hold government responsible for not making any allocation for palliative care and questioned the government’s decision to reduce the running cost of these centres from 1.5 crore to 55 lakhs. He further added that government failed to reach as many local self-help group (SHG) as possible who run these day-care centre. Most of the local bodies and NGOs not aware about these facilities offered by the state government. He further reported that Goa’s senior citizen population reached to 11.4% of total population as per the 2011 census, so every village should start such day-care centers.
