Two arrested for trafficking women in Goa

Two persons were arrested for the alleged trafficking of women in Goa. Deputy Superintendent of Police Jeevba Dalvi said the accused have been identified as Mohsin Shaikh from Gujarat and Shilpi Mishra from Mumbai. Raids were conducted after receiving information about prostitution activities in Anjuna in North Goa and three victim girls were rescued, he said.

Dalvi said, initially accused Mohsin Shaikh had come to rescue a victim girl, during which the police surrounded the accused and rescued the victim girl. During interrogation, the said victim girl disclosed the whereabouts of the other two victim girls living in a resort in Arpora. Accordingly, the police team visited the resort and rescued them from the hotel room. An offense has been registered under sections 370, 370(3) R/W 34 IPC and sections 4 and 5 of the Immoral Trafficking Act. The police department is investigating the matter further.
