In Ponda taluka, an incident occurred where a bison attacked a woman named Nisha Satarkar while she and her sister Suman were gathering mushrooms on a hill in Keri village. During the attack, Nisha was gored by the bison’s horns and dragged for approximately 3 meters. She sustained significant injuries and required 21 stitches on her leg. Fortunately, the bison retreated when Suman bravely approached it with a koita (sickle). Nisha was promptly taken to Betki primary health center for medical treatment.
In another unfortunate incident, a different bison attacked a couple, Shilpa and Shivanand Naik from Savoi Verem, on Sunday around 8:30 PM while they were returning home. Shilpa suffered injuries to her shoulder during the encounter with the bison.
Authorities are likely to be monitoring the situation closely to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of residents in the region.
