Kare College Management Suspends Principal Over Law Admissions Controversy

Education

The Principal of G. R. Kare College of Law in Margao, Saba D’Silva, has been suspended by the college management. The decision was made during a meeting of the executive committee of Vidya Vikas Mandal, the organization that oversees the law college. The suspension comes after D’Silva was found guilty by the Goa University’s inquiry committee of allegations related to favoritism and manipulation of the college’s entrance test.

The accusations against D’Silva were centered on altering the entrance exam norms for admissions to the BA LLB program at the last moment, with the apparent intention of benefiting his own son, who was among the test-takers. Nitin Kunkolienkar, the President of Vidya Vikas Mandal, informed that D’Silva’s suspension would remain in effect while a formal inquiry, to be conducted by the college management, takes place.

Additionally, the law college’s librarian, Anand Salve, who was also implicated in the Goa University inquiry, has been suspended in a similar manner. Kunkolienkar assured that the inquiry process would be carried out fairly and led by a “senior and responsible person.” The objective of the investigation is to address the allegations impartially and reach a just resolution.
