Education

Students from the campuses of BITS Pilani in Goa and Hyderabad recently undertook internships with the Goa government’s Project Management Unit (PMU), which is overseeing the implementation of coding and robotics education in schools across the state. This innovative curriculum has been integrated into the syllabus for approximately 65,000 students in over 430 government and aided schools in Goa. The PMU operates under the state directorate of technical education.

Starting from the current academic year, 2023-24, a specialized advanced program in coding and robotics has been introduced for students with a keen interest and talent in these subjects. This program takes place after regular school hours and has attracted enrollment from a total of 7,721 students in Classes VI, VII, and VIII.

To strengthen this partnership, the PMU initiated a summer internship program for undergraduate students from BITS Pilani’s Goa and Hyderabad campuses. The internship took place from May 30 to July 21, 2023. This collaboration between academic institutions and the government aims to enhance the coding and robotics education initiative, providing valuable experience and expertise to both the participating students and the state’s educational efforts.
