The Goa unit of the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday alleged that the BJP government was extorting money from taxpayers by increasing the tariff on the water to buy the remaining three Congress MLAs. AAP leaders reacted to the water tariff hike announced by the government on October 1 and called it extortion.
AAP State President Ed. Amit Palekar said this water increase is nothing but extortion of the taxpayers of Goa for the purchase of the remaining 3 Congress MLAs. Palekar attacked the BJP government by promising free water, saying it was another hoax like every other Joomla made by them.
AAP Benaulim MLA Venji Viegas demanded immediate withdrawal of the hike along with the cancellation of the notification of the annual increase of 5 percent. The announcement of free water before the elections and then increasing the rates of water after the elections shows that the intention of the BJP government was to cheat the people of Goa to woo votes.
