The Goencho Ekvott has requested the District Collector S-Goa to revoke permission for closing of level crossing roads at Village Chandor, Nessai and Davorlim for cutting of roads to lay for second railway tracks failing to which they warned of a ‘Law & Order’ situation in Goa.

The Goencho Ekvott said that the permission accorded by S-Goa Collector for the temporary closing of level crossing roads in villages at Chandor, Nessai and Davorlim for cutting of roads to lay the double railway tracks is illegal and in violation of the 73rd amendment of the constitution, as the Rail Vikas Nigam ltd. has not taken consent from the local Panchayat at Chandor-Cavorim, Sao Jose de Areal, Davorlim-Dicarpale nor any other Panchayats along the proposed track right from Kalem to Vasco-da-gama.

These projects will be a threat to the fundamental right as many people are likely to lose their houses, health and livelihood, which
is in violation of Articles 14 , 21 of the Constitution of India and The Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994, said Ekvott.

Ekvott has requested of the Collectors stern intervention and requested him to immediately revoke the permission granted to the Rail Vikas Nigam ltd. for closing of level crossing roads at Village
at Chandor, Nessai and Davorlim for cutting of roads to lay the double railway tracks, failing which Goencho Ekvott warned of a law order situation in the state.
