The Maina-Curtorim Police have arrested three persons for illegal sand mining in Muxim, Macasana and seized a tipper truck and mini pick up.
The Police had got an information about illegal sand mining being done at Muxim Macazana Salcete Goa. The locals had also complained regarding the sand extraction in their village.
Accordingly a case U/sec 379/34 IPC and sec 4/ 21 Mines and mineral Development and Regulation Act 1957 was registered and three accused persons were arrested.
Anthony Hilario (33) r/o Eclate Curtorim Salcete Goa, Rosario Hilario (36) r/o Eclate Curtorim Salcete Goa and Mr.Amar Kulal (30) r/o Davorlim Salcete Goa have been arrested and booked them for committing theft of sand/mineral worth Rs.10,000/- approx. reportedly from the river without any lease or licence from the Competent Authority and thereafter were transporting the said sand in a clandestine Manner.
During course of investigation, a Tipper Truck and a Balero pick up used in the offence were seized.
