After a recent diplomatic spat, Mohd Nasheed, the former president of the Maldives, expressed regret for the country’s portrayal of India as being hostile.

Mohamed Nasheed, the former president of the Maldives, apologised to India despite the strained diplomatic relations between the two nations. President Mohamed Muizzu has received a request from Nasheed to “put a stop” to talks against India inside his administration.

“I am actually here in India, and it has impacted the Maldives a lot,” Nasheed said in an interview with ANI. This worries me a great deal. The people of the Maldives would want to express their regret for this incident. We welcome Indian visitors to the Maldives for their vacations, and our hospitality won’t alter in any way.
The previous president of the Maldives emphasised India’s responsible response to the delicate situation by saying, “When the president of the Maldives wanted Indian military personnel to leave, you know what India did? They did not twist their arms. They did not display muscle, but just simply told the government of Maldives, ‘Okay, let’s have a discussion on that,” without using force.
