Orange Alert by IMD for Goa – Fishermen are requested not to wander to sea till 9th July

Orange alert issued earlier by The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) is extended till 9th July for Goa due to possibility of very heavy rainfall (>11.5cm). IMD also requested Fishermen not to wander to sea till 9th July.

Till yesterday (5th July), Goa has witnessed 47.36 inches of rainfall since 1 June, 13 per cent more than the same period of previous year.

A state experience chaos everywhere due to rain. Waterlogging in Paroda, flood in Pernem, tree falling in Kulem, and submerged runway at new Mopa International Airport.

Villagers of the Benaulim opened-up that the village will witness heavy flood if if the authorities fail to construct Western Byass on stilts.

“All the disaster management authorities are in action mode to tackle any situation in Goa”, said CM Pramod Sawant.
