Crackdown on vehicle’s speeding on Atal Setu Bridge after the fatal accident of police constable Sandeep Naik

A police constable Sandeep Naik died last week in the fatal accident on Atal Setu, the longest bridge of Goa. Traffic cell of Goa police, after a week are into action to crackdown on the speeding on the bridge. It was also said that this action was taken after four people from Loutolim lost their life into the river from Zuari bridge.

The speed radar guns are handed over to the traffic police on duty that will capture the speed at which vehicle is going. If vehicle is found to cross the speed limit, a challan will be generated and forwarded to the violator.

The signages are also installed at the entry of bridge to highlight, ‘Atal Setu is Under Observation’, to alert citizens against speeding on the bridge. Two traffic police personnel are deployed at the bridge with the hand-held speed guns. “At the beginning, cases will be booked in the daytime, but soon vigilance will be conducted in the night as well, says SP Shekhar Prabhudesai, North Goa Traffic Department.
