Dadasaheb Phalke Award to Asha Parekh: After 22 years a woman got this honour

Asha Parekh, once a well-known actress, is going to be honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award this year. This is the highest award in the Indian film industry. This award will be given to the actress for her contribution to the film industry. 79-year-old Asha Parekh will be given this honour at the 68th National Film Awards.

This is the first time in 22 years that a woman has been honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Singer Asha Bhosle was last given this award in the year 2000, after which Asha Parekh is the first woman to win it.

Asha Parekh has worked in about 95 Bollywood films. She was last seen in the film ‘Sar Aankhon Par’ in the year 1999. Asha has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award 11 times. At the same time, in 1992, she was awarded the country’s prestigious Padma Shri by the Government of India.
