Illegal tree-cutting and destruction of sand dunes near turtle nesting site, Forest Department takes strict action and files FIR

A FIR has been filed by the Forest Department Goa against a person who is carrying out illegal tree-cutting and destruction of sand dunes at Morjim, very close to the Olive Ridley turtle nesting site.

It has been observed that more than 30 trees have been felled illegally by an individual. As the action is taking place very close to the turtle nesting and conservation site, deputy conservator of forest has been notified.

Town and country planning minister, Mr. Rane, said that instructions are also given to TCP department to issue a stop work order and start the process of revocation of the license. We are concerned about the protection and conservation of the environment and hence will take a strict action against the individual or group involved in the destruction. We are working hard to place the Goa on country’s sea turtle map and such violations will not be entertained.
