The latest revelations about former minister Partha Chatterjee and his assistant Arpita Mukherjee in the Trinamool Congress government have intensified the political excitement in Bengal. Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids at Arpita’s house have so far recovered more than 53 crores of black money. At present, raids are going on in two more of his flats, which may lead to some more big revelations.

How did the entry of ED happen, why did Parth and Arpita come on the target?

The ED started investigation in this case in May. Till July 28, the agency had raided 14 places including the whereabouts of Partha Chatterjee. During the raids on the premises of Partha Chatterjee, the ED found documents of Arpita Mukherjee’s property. When Partha Chatterjee was asked the identity of Arpita, he started hesitating on it.

After this, the ED expanded the scope of investigation and raided the flat of actress Arpita Mukherjee. Arpita is also said to be close to Parth.

The agency found about Rs 21 crore in cash, 60 lakh foreign currency, 20 phones and other documents from Arpita’s flat. After this, the ED raided other places of Arpita on Wednesday. ED has found Rs 27.9 crore in cash from Arpita’s house.

The ED has so far questioned Partha Chatterjee, Arpita Mukherjee, besides Trinamool Congress MLA Manik Bhattacharya in this case. Another state minister Paresh Adhikari was also questioned in this case. Not only this, his daughter’s teacher’s job also went away. It is alleged that Ankita Adhikari was given the job keeping the rules on hold.
