Members of the All-Goa Taxi Union Association denied with the statement made by CM Pramod Sawant while speaking in the House. CM Said, Taxi operators do not use the meters in their vehicles, they cover it with a towel.
One of operators opened up that it is not possible to start the vehicle stationed at airport, railway stations, and bus stands without the digital meter. Another operator revealed that, many tourists from big cities insist us to take lump sum amount instead of digital meter fare and we have no choice then to comply with such customers.
The cabbies protested against CM’s statement and said, Let CM compare our bank balance with bank balance of the ministers in his cabinet and conclude who really loot the public. They added, we are struggling for survival and expecting cooperation from government to take Swayampurna Goa forward.
